Classroom Expectations!
General Classroom Expectations - P.A.R.T.Y.!
- Participate in class activities/projects!
- Appropriate language!
- Respect yourself, your peers, teachers, and equipment!
- Terrific behaviour!
- Your very best effort and enthusiasm!
Classroom Routines:
- When you come into class, retrieve your folder from the filing cabinet at the front of the room and begin working on your current project!
- You are to work on the current project until you are told to clean up with a few minutes left in the class!
- I will tell you when there are a few minutes left of class time so you can save your work, put equipment away, and log off the computers!
Late Policy:
Projects/assignments should be handed in on the date specified. Any students who do not hand in projects/assignments on their assigned due dates will be brought to Miss Bonogofski's room during TAG or will be given lunch detention until their work is finished. I understand that some weeks of the school year are a lot busier than others. If you know that your project/assignment will be late before the due date (because you have a busy week with your other classes, or due to other factors outside of school), please let me know ahead of time and we can arrange for an appropriate due date for your work.
Attention Grabber:
If I need to get the class' attention, I will play a gong sound, at which point all students in the class should stop working/talking, and direct their attention to me at the front of the class.
How to Get Help:
If you need assistance with your projects/assignments, you can put your hand up from your work station, or come up to me to ask if I am not already helping another student!
Leaving the Classroom:
If you need to leave the classroom, please ask me first!
Seating Plan:
Currently, there is no seating plan. If the class works well in the current arrangement, you can stay seated where you currently are. If some students are distracting themselves or others in their current seats, a seating plan will be created for the class.
Free time:
If you have completed the project that the class is working on, you may work on other homework for one of your other classes, start the next project for the course, work on a project course for an extra credit, or have free time at your computer - as long as you are not distracting other students in the class working on the current project. There is also a section on the top menu bar called "If you're done...", which lists various activities to do if you should finish your design project early! You should not be gaming in class.
Noise Level:
Students are allowed to talk when working on projects in class. However, the noise level should be kept at a minimum, with no shouting/yelling in the classroom. Please respect your peers and be aware of your noise level when talking in class.
Cell Phones:
You can have your cell phone out during class to listen to music while you work (with headphones in), but you should not be texting your friends or classmates during class time. I understand that emergencies happen and that from time to time you may need to step out of class to take an important phone call. If you are abusing the cell phone privileges, I may confiscate your cell phone for the remainder of class, and turn it over to the office in severe cases.
Music:
I don't mind if you listen to music while you are working on projects in class as long as you have headphones in and the music is not distracting to any other students in the class.
Food/Drinks:
No open drink containers at your computer station! Any open drink containers should be left on the filing cabinet near the front of the classroom!
Discipline Procedure:
If you choose not to follow any of the classroom expectations, you will be given a warning on your first offense (verbal warning). On your second offense, you will be given a lunch time detention (in which you will work on your design projects or practice design techniques). On your third offense, you will be sent directly to the office.
