Project 2 - Form and Function (30%)
You have been chosen by the Museum of Design Studies to research a design period from the following list:

There are two parts to this assignment: research and design!
Part 1: Research (70 marks)
You are to develop a presentation (PowerPoint, Notebook, Prezi) to address the following questions: · What are the major characteristics of this movement? (10 marks) · What were the major influences on the design style of this movement? In other words, how did the environment/culture/nature/philosophy/technology/traditions/ politics/etc of the time influence this movement? (10 marks) · Find 5 key works that exemplify the movement and explain how they do so. (25 marks) · Identify and discuss one major designer of the selected movement. How did/does this designer exemplify this style? Include 3 examples of his/her work and explain how they are examples of this design style. (25 marks) ***Remember to put all the information on the presentation in a clear and precise manner! |
Part 2: Design (30 marks)
You are to design a logo for a retail business (of your choice!) that exemplifies the style of the design movement that you researched. Following the design process that you have learned in class, your completed project should consist of 4 pages: 1 page outlining the problem and your initial thoughts, 1 page of research, 1 page with at least 6 different designs, and 1 page with your final design! |
You will have 4 class periods to work on this project! Completed projects are due Tuesday, March 19, 2013!
